"Thomas Yee’s first opera, Eva and the Angel of Death, is a compelling musical drama of survival and forgiveness. His vocal writing for the two leading women is superb (especially the powerful duet culminating Act I), and his chamber orchestration is masterful. This is the work of an already mature composer who can convincingly convey an extraordinary range of emotions, from the traumatic to the redemptive."
